Minister for Municipal Administration K.N. Nehru has emphasized the need to desilt stormwater drains and sewer networks in corporations and local bodies across Tamil Nadu before the upcoming Northeast monsoon. In a review meeting held in Chennai, he highlighted the importance of daily inspections by officials to ensure the maintenance of basic infrastructure.

The minister’s directive comes in response to petitions received from residents and elected representatives from various parts of Tamil Nadu. The timely desilting of stormwater drains and sewer networks is crucial to prevent waterlogging and flooding during the monsoon season.
