CBI and ED Seize Rs 11 Crore Worth of Assets in Cattle Smuggling Case Involving TMC Leader Anubrata Mondal

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) have jointly confiscated moveable and immovable properties valued at Rs 11 crore belonging to Anubrata Mondal, a prominent Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader, and his family members in connection with a multi-crore cattle smuggling case in West Bengal.

The agencies have also submitted details of these cases to the Rouse Avenue Court in Kolkata. Mondal, the TMC president in Birbhum district, is accused of using his influence to purchase properties below market value, including rice mills, land plots, residential flats, and luxury vehicles.

The agencies have traced how the proceeds from the cattle smuggling scam were funneled through legal businesses like rice mills and shell companies. The total value of confiscated properties may exceed Rs 20 crore. Mondal, along with his associates, is currently in judicial custody at Tihar Jail in New Delhi.
