Chennai Corporation Explores Providing Drinking Water and Buttermilk in Crowded Areas

As the scorching summer heat grips Chennai, the Chennai Corporation is considering setting up facilities for distributing buttermilk and safe drinking water in crowded localities across the city. While councillors have demanded such facilities due to the rising temperatures, many have stopped distributing drinking water due to the model code of conduct for the Lok Sabha elections 2024.

However, councillors like Anna Nagar T.V. Shemmozhi suggest utilizing Amma Canteens and other facilities for this purpose. Despite challenges, there is a growing demand for such facilities, especially in crowded areas of North Chennai. With approximately 1000 locations identified for these facilities, the Corporation aims to provide relief to residents, auto drivers, and the economically disadvantaged during the summer months.
