Chennai Prepares Parking Infrastructure for Khelo India Events
In anticipation of the upcoming Khelo India events, the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) is taking proactive measures to alleviate congestion by designating parking spaces in parks, playgrounds, and schools. Corporation Commissioner J. Radhakrishnan, along with Chennai Traffic Police Additional Commissioner R. Sudhakar, conducted inspections at various locations on Tuesday to finalize parking arrangements.
The Nehru stadium, indoor stadium, circus ground, My Ladye’s Park, Kannappar Thidal, and a Corporation school near the RTO office were among the venues discussed. Dr. Radhakrishnan also engaged in talks with SDAT Member Secretary J. Meghantha Reddy to address parking concerns at the circus ground and Kannapar Thidal.
Civic infrastructure enhancements near Nehru Park, slated for archery and squash events, are underway, and discussions with SDAT officials and event handlers have encompassed comprehensive parking plans. The Gangu Reddy subway, adjacent to the venue entrance, is also undergoing refurbishment, signaling the city’s commitment to ensuring a seamless and organized Khelo India experience.
