De’Von Achane Injured in Dolphins vs Chiefs Game
Miami Dolphins running back De’Von Achane left Sunday’s Week 3 game against the Kansas City Chiefs after suffering a knee injury and did not return. Achane was initially listed as questionable but was later ruled out after getting hurt early in the game at Hard Rock Stadium.
The injury happened during Miami’s opening drive. Achane was carrying the ball for the third time when he gained 11 yards before being tackled awkwardly by Chiefs safety Alohi Gilman.
Achane remained on the ground for a short time before slowly getting back up. Dolphins trainers helped him walk toward the medical tent, where he was examined by the team’s medical staff.
After spending several minutes in the medical tent, Achane left the field and went to the locker room for further evaluation. He did not return to the game, with the Dolphins later officially ruling him out.
The injury was a major concern for Miami because Achane had been one of the team’s most important offensive players during the opening weeks of the season. Through the first two games, he had recorded 159 rushing yards and 38 total touches.
The Dolphins were already dealing with a shortage at the running back position because Jaylen Wright was unavailable. Achane’s injury therefore left Miami with limited options in the backfield.
With Achane out, Ollie Gordon II became the Dolphins’ main available running back. Gordon later scored his first touchdown of the season, helping Miami draw level at 7-7 during the game.
Achane’s absence could have a major impact on Miami’s offensive plans, particularly because the team has relied heavily on his speed and ability to create big plays. His combination of rushing ability and involvement in the passing game has made him an important part of the Dolphins’ attack.
The Dolphins will now await further medical evaluation to determine the seriousness of Achane’s knee injury. More information about his condition and potential recovery timeline is expected after additional tests.
For now, Miami will have to manage its backfield with limited healthy options. Gordon is the only fully available running back mentioned in the game situation, increasing the importance of his role if Achane is forced to miss future games.
