DMK Councillors Urge Coordination Among Government Agencies in Chennai Corporation

DMK councillors in the Greater Chennai Corporation expressed concern over the lack of coordination among various government agencies, emphasizing that this inconsistency could impact the ruling party’s chances in the 2024 Lok Sabha election. During a Corporation Council meeting at the Ripon Building, councillors raised issues of drainage, water supply, and electricity, holding the Corporation responsible for public grievances.

They called for better coordination between government agencies and the Corporation to ensure effective governance. DMK councillor K. Kannan stressed the importance of the Water Supply Department operating under the Chennai Corporation’s purview to enhance the party’s prospects in the upcoming election. The councillors also sought the inclusion of elected representatives in inter-departmental discussions to improve decision-making processes.

Additionally, they proposed weekly reports from officials on the works undertaken in their respective wards. Corporation Commissioner J. Radhakrishnan assured transparency and information-sharing with councillors to address concerns and enhance clarity for committees within the Council.
