Drunken Tip-off on Mumbai Terror Threat Leads to Arrest

On the 15th anniversary of the 26/11 terror attacks, an intoxicated individual raised alarm by calling the Mumbai Police Control Room with a tip-off about alleged terrorists entering Mumbai. The caller, identified as Laxman Naravane, claimed that two to three terrorists had landed in Mankhurd’s Ekta Nagar area and were planning suspicious activities.

Mumbai Police, promptly responding to the call, tracked and questioned Naravane, discovering that he was heavily inebriated when making the false tip-off. Preliminary investigations revealed the information to be baseless. Naravane has been arrested and faces charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code as further inquiries continue to ascertain the motives behind the misleading call.
