Enhancing Coastal Livelihoods: Inauguration of Juvvaladinne Fishing Harbour by Andhra Pradesh CM

Marking a significant milestone for coastal communities, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is set to inaugurate the Juvvaladinne fishing harbor virtually on March 12. Alongside the inauguration, he will distribute the fifth tranche of compensation to fisherfolk families affected by ONGC pipeline works. With an estimated cost of ₹289 crores, the fishing harbour is poised to benefit 25,000 fisherfolk families and provide a haven for 1,250 motorized and mechanized boats.

This initiative aligns with the state government’s larger strategy to enhance livelihoods and curb distress migration by constructing world-class fishing harbors and landing centers, with 10 harbors and six centers already underway. The significant financial assistance provided to the fisheries sector, totaling ₹4,913 crore over the last 58 months, underscores the government’s commitment to bolstering the coastal economy and promoting sustainable development in Andhra Pradesh.
