India vs Sri Lanka in Asian Games 2026 Cricket Semi-Final

India will face Sri Lanka in the men’s cricket semi-final at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, after Sri Lanka’s quarter-final against Nepal was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to heavy rain on Tuesday.

The Sri Lanka-Nepal match was called off before the scheduled start after continuous rainfall affected the venue. With no play possible, Sri Lanka advanced to the semi-finals because of their higher seeding based on ICC T20I rankings.

India also reached the last four after their quarter-final against Afghanistan was washed out due to rain. As a result, India will now meet Sri Lanka for a place in the final.

Sri Lanka had failed to progress beyond the quarter-final stage at the 2022 Asian Games, where they lost to Afghanistan. They will now look to challenge India in the upcoming semi-final.

The other semi-final will feature Bangladesh against Pakistan. Bangladesh progressed after their quarter-final against Malaysia was also abandoned because of rain.

Both semi-finals are scheduled for October 1, with Bangladesh taking on Pakistan first, followed by India versus Sri Lanka.

India are looking to defend their men’s cricket gold medal from the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, where their final against Afghanistan was abandoned without play.

India’s women’s team has already retained the cricket title at the Aichi-Nagoya Games, defeating Sri Lanka by 147 runs in the final.
