Indian Cities in Mercer’s Quality of Living Ranking 2023

Hyderabad, Pune, and Bengaluru emerged as the highest-ranked Indian cities in Mercer’s worldwide Quality of Living ranking for 2023, securing the 153rd, 154th, and 156th positions, respectively. Vienna in Austria retained its top spot, with Zurich (Switzerland) and Auckland (New Zealand) following in second and third place.

Chennai and Mumbai secured the 161st and 164th positions, respectively, while Kolkata and New Delhi ranked 170th and 172nd. The survey assesses the practicalities of daily life for expatriate employees and their families globally. Vienna is described as offering a high standard of living with a rich history, stunning architecture, and a vibrant cultural scene.

African cities like N’Djamena (Chad) and Bangui (Central African Republic) ranked lower, while in the Middle East, Sana’a (Yemen) and Baghdad (Iraq) faced challenges impacting the quality of living.

Among European cities, Amsterdam, Oslo, and Paris featured in the top 50. Singapore led Asian cities at 29th place, and Vancouver (Canada) secured the eighth spot globally. Toronto, San Francisco, and Auckland also received notable mentions in the ranking.
