India’s Finance Minister Visits Doha for AIIB Meeting

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has arrived in Doha, Qatar, to participate in the 11th Annual Meeting of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).

She is also scheduled to take part in the AIIB Investors Dialogue 2026, which brings together government representatives, policymakers, investors and other stakeholders from member countries.

The meetings will focus on the future direction of the AIIB and its role in supporting infrastructure and economic development across member countries.

Leaders and representatives attending the annual meeting are expected to discuss the bank’s priorities, future plans and areas where cooperation can be strengthened.

The AIIB Investors Dialogue will provide an opportunity for policymakers and investors to discuss infrastructure financing and investment opportunities. Such discussions are important as countries look for ways to fund major infrastructure projects and support sustainable economic growth.

Sitharaman’s participation also provides India with an opportunity to engage with representatives from other AIIB member countries and discuss issues related to infrastructure investment and development financing.

The AIIB was established to support sustainable economic development by financing infrastructure and other productive sectors. India is one of the bank’s founding members and an important participant in its activities.
