Infighting Escalates in Trinamool Congress as Legislator’s Office Ransacked

Tensions within the Trinamool Congress have heightened as the office of Manoranjan Byapari, a rebel legislator from the Balagarh Assembly constituency in Hooghly district, was ransacked a day after he posted on social media criticizing Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Byapari accused local Trinamool Congress leader and zilla parishad member Runa Khatun of orchestrating the attack, claiming she consistently belittles him.

Khatun denied the allegations, attributing the incident to public anger over Byapari’s derogatory social media post. In response, she filed a counter-general diary, accusing Byapari of making defamatory remarks against her. The Trinamool Congress leadership directed Byapari not to visit his constituency temporarily, but he vowed to fight with local support.

Byapari’s social media post also questioned the Chief Minister’s choice of him as a legislator, raising concerns about allegations of corruption within the party.
