IT Raids in Bengaluru Not Linked to Coffee Board Secretary

The recent Income Tax (IT) raids conducted at various locations in Bengaluru are reportedly not linked to the Secretary of the Coffee Board, M. Chandrashekar, as previously believed. The raids took place at offices and residences of jewelers, and the premises associated with Chandrashekar. However, sources have denied any financial transactions between Chandrashekar and the jewelers.

The IT operations targeted upscale localities, including Malleshwaram, Sadashivanagar, Dollars Colony, Mathikere, Sarjapur Road, RMV Extension, and more, at around 50 locations. The raids were based on a tip-off about significant funds being collected in Bengaluru for financing assembly elections in five states.

IT officers reportedly seized Rs 42 crore in cash from a contractor’s apartment in the city. JD-S leader and former CM H.D. Kumaraswamy alleged that the money was intended for transport to Telangana.
