Karnataka Revenue Minister Urges Officials to Prepare for Possible Water Scarcity

Krishna Byre Gowda, the Revenue Minister of Karnataka, has directed officials at district, taluk, and sub-division levels to be prepared for potential water scarcity in the coming months due to delayed rainfall. During a meeting at the Suvarna Soudha, the Minister advised officials to ensure adequate drinking water supply and, if necessary, enter into agreements with private individuals owning borewells to rent them.

The expenses for borewells and tankers can be covered from the State Disaster Relief Fund. The Minister also emphasized the need for transparency in the distribution of compensation to farmers and urged officials to adopt e-office systems for efficient operations. The district deputy commissioner noted that all 15 taluks in the district have been declared drought-hit, and water levels in various dams are being monitored.
