Kejriwal Accuses ED of Politicizing Food, Seeks Access to Insulin in Jail

Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi and the national convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), accused the Enforcement Directorate (ED) of politicizing his food habits in jail. The ED had claimed that Kejriwal was consuming high-sugar foods to raise his blood sugar levels and create grounds for medical bail. Kejriwal withdrew a plea seeking thrice-weekly consultations with his doctor regarding his fluctuating sugar levels and filed a fresh plea seeking daily consultations and access to insulin.

His counsel stated that his dietary choices were as per the doctor’s diet chart. However, Tihar Jail authorities disputed this, stating that his home-cooked meals were not compliant with the prescribed diet. AAP alleged a conspiracy by the BJP and ED to harm Kejriwal’s life in prison and criticized the ED for publicizing false information about his diet. They emphasized that the ED should not interfere with Kejriwal’s diet as it is a probe agency dealing with money laundering, not jail administration.
