Marlins Beat Brewers 5-3 to End Losing Streak
MIAMI (AP) — Eury Pérez pitched six strong innings, allowing three hits and just one earned run, while striking out seven batters. The Marlins took advantage of Jacob Misiorowski’s early struggles, scoring three runs in the first inning. Despite a late rally by the Brewers, including a two-out, two-run single by Gary Sánchez, the Marlins held on for a 5-3 victory.
Pérez (2-1) helped Miami snap a four-game losing streak and avoid being swept in the series. Calvin Faucher made key outs in the eighth inning to preserve the lead, and Pete Fairbanks secured the win with two strikeouts in the ninth for his third save.
Misiorowski (1-2), despite throwing five pitches over 101 mph early on, struggled with walks and allowed three runs in five innings. The Brewers scored a run in the sixth but couldn’t overcome the Marlins’ early lead.
In other highlights, Kyle Stowers made his season debut for Miami with two hits, including a double. The Brewers’ Brice Turang extended his on-base streak to 25 games.
The Marlins will face the Cardinals next, starting with Max Meyer on Monday. LHP Kyle Harrison will pitch Tuesday against Detroit.
