PM Modi Enquires About Rescue Operations in Silkyara Tunnel Tragedy

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to inquire about the ongoing rescue operations to free 41 trapped workers in the Silkyara tunnel. Dhami updated the Prime Minister on the positive progress made in the past 24 hours and the coordinated efforts involving central agencies, international experts, and the state administration.

The rescue team, led by international tunneling expert Arnold Dix, is now planning to drill vertically to create an evacuation passage. Communication has been established with the trapped workers, and the rescue team is prepared to execute the drilling operation from above the tunnel towards the bottom. The trapped workers have been trapped for ten days since a portion of the under-construction tunnel collapsed on November 12.
