Punjab Kings Dismiss Arshdeep Singh Injury Rumors Amid IPL Struggles
Punjab Kings (PBKS) have clarified that pacer Arshdeep Singh is fully fit and training with the team ahead of IPL 2026. The franchise refuted recent reports suggesting issues with his fitness, stating he is in great shape and ready for upcoming matches.
The team’s sports science head, Andrew Leipus, mentioned earlier that Arshdeep faced minor physical limitations affecting his performance. However, Punjab Kings remain confident in their star bowler, who has taken 14 wickets at an impressive economy rate of 9.78 so far this season.
Despite Arshdeep’s strong contributions, Punjab Kings are struggling on the pitch. They have lost six straight games after a strong start and currently sit in fourth place with 13 points from 13 matches. To secure a playoff spot, they need to defeat Lucknow Super Giants next week by a significant margin and hope other top teams falter.
Punjab Kings last tasted victory on April 25 against Delhi Capitals, chasing down a record 265-run target with six wickets in hand. Their playoff hopes hinge on securing enough points in their remaining matches.
The franchise has reached the IPL final twice before (in 2014 and 2025), but has yet to clinch the title. With only one match left in the league stage, they are fighting to stay in contention for another shot at victory.
