Student Arrested for Posing as RAW Officer, Extracting Information from Senior Officers
A 24-year-old nursing student, Benedict Sabu, was arrested by the police for impersonating an officer of the Indian intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW). The arrest took place as Sabu attempted to extract information from senior officers participating in an awareness program about drug addiction. Hailing from Idukki in Kerala, Sabu posed as a field officer and Sub-Inspector attached to RAW.
Fake IDs, mobile phones, and laptops were recovered from him. Sabu, a student at Unity College in Mangaluru, had been studying in the GNM Course of the Nursing College for six months. Under the guise of being a RAW field agent, he interacted with senior police officers and individuals from various investigating agencies. However, his suspicious behavior led the senior officers to alert the police.
After preliminary questioning, Sabu was caught when he provided inconsistent answers. Another fake ID, claiming he was an Assistant Agriculture Development Officer, was also found in his possession. Investigations are ongoing to determine if he had misused the gathered information.
