Study Reveals $151.2 Billion in Infrastructure Damage in Ukraine Due to Russian War

A recent study conducted by the Kyiv School of Economics indicates that Russia’s ongoing war against Ukraine has caused approximately $151.2 billion in direct damage to Ukraine’s infrastructure as of September 2023 since the invasion began in February 2022. The damage has increased by over $700 million compared to June 2023 when it was estimated at $150.5 billion.

The housing sector suffered the most, with damages amounting to $55.9 billion. In total, 167,200 housing units, including private houses, apartment buildings, and dormitories, have been destroyed or damaged. The infrastructure and industry sectors followed with $36.6 billion and $11.4 billion in damages, respectively. The war has also significantly impacted the education and healthcare sectors, causing $10.1 billion and $2.9 billion in damages, respectively.
