Supreme Court Halts Allahabad HC Ruling on Madrasa Education Act

The Supreme Court has intervened by staying a judgment from the Allahabad High Court that deemed the Uttar Pradesh Board of Madarsa Education Act, 2004 unconstitutional and against secular principles. Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud led the bench, deeming the High Court’s directive to integrate madrasa students into regular schools as unnecessary.

With over 16,000 state-recognized madrasas in Uttar Pradesh, the petitioners, representing madrasa teachers, argued that the decision had a significant impact on the lives of numerous students.
