T.N. Police Prevent Potential Attack on Raj Bhavan, Suspect Arrested

The Tamil Nadu police have successfully thwarted a potential attack on the Raj Bhavan, dispelling initial claims that the suspect intended to breach the Governor’s official residence. Director-General of Police (DGP) Shankar Jiwal disclosed that the suspect, Karukka Vinodh, with a history of 14 criminal cases pending against him, was captured on CCTV walking from Teynampet to the Raj Bhavan with four Molotov cocktails.

When the police realized his intentions, they attempted to restrain him. In fear of arrest, Vinodh hurled two petrol bombs, causing damage to a police barricade. The DGP also referenced a previous complaint about an attack on the Governor’s vehicle in Kumbakonam on April 18, 2022, noting that individuals had displayed black flags as the convoy passed by, leading to the arrest of 73 individuals in connection with the incident.

The prompt response of Chennai Police stationed in front of the Raj Bhavan led to the arrest of the lone suspect in the Molotov cocktail attack case, reinforcing the State’s commitment to the Governor and Raj Bhavan security.
