TTD Ghee Adulteration Report Criticizes Temple Administration
A special committee appointed by the Andhra Pradesh government has submitted a serious report on the supply of adulterated ghee to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), the organization that manages the famous Tirupati temple.
According to the report, the TTD Board and former Executive Officer AV Dharma Reddy are being held responsible for major failures in following proper procedures. These failures reportedly allowed large quantities of poor-quality and adulterated ghee to enter the temple’s supply system.
The committee found that strict rules for ghee procurement were introduced in 2019 to ensure quality and safety. However, only a few months later, these standards were weakened. Because of the relaxed guidelines, companies that did not fully meet quality requirements were allowed to join the supply chain.
This change created opportunities for substandard and adulterated ghee to be supplied to TTD. The report suggests that weak supervision, poor enforcement of regulations, and administrative lapses played a major role in the issue.
The findings have raised concerns because ghee is used in preparing the sacred Tirupati laddu prasadam, which is offered to millions of devotees every year.
The committee has stressed the need for stricter monitoring, stronger procurement policies, and better accountability within the temple administration to prevent such incidents in the future. The report also underlines the importance of maintaining the highest quality standards in materials used for religious offerings.
