Two Navy SEALs Missing After Seizing Iranian Weapon Components Near Somalia

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that two Navy SEALs are missing following an operation near the coast of Somalia to seize Iranian weapon components being supplied to Houthi militia in Yemen. The operation, conducted on January 11, involved a night-time seizure of a dhow transporting advanced lethal aid from Iran to resupply Houthi forces.

The Navy SEALs, operating from the USS Lewis B Puller, seized Iranian-made ballistic missile and cruise missile components. The missing SEALs were directly involved in the operation, and a search is underway. This marks the first seizure of Iranian-supplied advanced conventional weapons to the Houthis since November 2023.
