Uttar Pradesh Government Prepares Charge Sheet in Muzaffarnagar Schoolboy Slapping Case

The Uttar Pradesh government informed the Supreme Court that the charge sheet is ready in the case concerning the slapping of a Muslim boy in Muzaffarnagar by his classmates. The incident occurred on the orders of their teacher, who made communal remarks against the child. The government is awaiting sanction to file the charge sheet in the trial court. The court directed the State to file an affidavit regarding the boy’s father’s complaint about the lack of study materials, books, and uniform assistance.

The affidavit must be submitted within two weeks, with the case scheduled for hearing on May 10. The court had previously intervened, ensuring the child’s transfer to a proper school and the State’s assistance with educational expenses. However, the boy’s father complained about the State’s unresponsiveness, prompting the court to reprimand the government for failing to provide a safe educational environment, as mandated by the Right to Education Act.
