Water Conservation Efforts Continue Amid Below Normal Rains in Bengaluru

Despite below-normal rainfall expected in May, the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) continues its efforts to manage the drinking water crisis in the city. While the drinking water situation remains stable, the board has drilled over 140 new borewells since March, with a 90% success rate. With at least 6,900 government borewells going dry in April, the BWSSB plans to drill more borewells in Bengaluru East taluk in May.

Additionally, the board emphasizes water conservation efforts, urging residents to install aerators on taps, use treated water for secondary purposes, and practice judicious water use. The BWSSB has also installed aerators on over five lakh public taps in the city and plans to enforce penalties for non-compliance starting Wednesday.
