Water Scarcity Grips Rayalaseema Amidst Sweltering Heatwave

As the blistering heatwave tightens its grip on Andhra Pradesh, the Rayalaseema region finds itself grappling with severe water scarcity. The situation is particularly dire in districts like Kadapa, Palamaner, Penukonda, and Hindupur, where water supply has dwindled to once every three days. With temperatures soaring to around 43 degrees Celsius in early April, residents fear the looming specter of even harsher conditions in May.

The scorching sun renders streets desolate from 11 am to 4 pm, evoking an eerie silence reminiscent of a curfew. While some municipalities manage daily water distribution, others like Adoni, Bethamcherla, and Chittoor resort to supplying water on alternate days, underscoring the severity of the crisis.
