Women arrested for murdering her partner in Thiruporur

Thiruporur police have arrested a 54-year-old woman on charges of murdering her partner. The woman allegedly pushed her partner, Valathi Kovilan, 76, to death and concealed his body in a plastic drum at their house in Alathur, near Thiruporur, Chengalpattu district.

The incident came to light when the house owner visited to collect rent and noticed a foul smell, prompting him to alert the police. Upon investigation, the police found Kovilan’s body in the drum. The woman, identified as Ezhilarasi, had gone missing from the scene.

Kovilan, a resident of Villupuram, had been living with Ezhilarasi after the death of his wife, and they resided in an apartment. He had retired from a private firm. The police suspect that the murder occurred around 10 days prior. Following the discovery of the body, it was sent for post-mortem examination.

With Ezhilarasi missing, the police considered her involvement in the crime and traced her using her mobile phone signal. During interrogation, she confessed that Kovilan died after she pushed him down during a quarrel, and she subsequently hid his body in the drum before leaving the house.
