Delhi Schools To Conduct Literacy And Numeracy Tests For Classes 2-8

The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Delhi, has announced plans for a baseline assessment under the NIPUN Sankalp Programme. This will be conducted for students in Classes 2 to 8 during the 2026-27 academic year.

The assessments will take place through OMR-based tests in Hindi, English, and Mathematics. The schedule is as follows: Hindi on August 27, English on August 29, and Mathematics on August 31.

The NIPUN Sankalp Programme is being carried out in schools under the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), Delhi Cantonment Board (DCB), and Directorate of Education (DoE). The goal is to improve foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN) skills among students.

Schools are required to register Classes 2 to 8 on the NIPUN Sankalp online portal by August 25. They must also check all student records before the assessment. School leaders have been asked to arrange for the tests according to the schedule.

During the assessments, schools will follow a “one desk, one student” rule to ensure fairness and confidentiality. Tests may be held in multiple shifts based on school facilities and needs.

OMR sheets will be used for the assessments, with specific guidelines provided by SCERT.
