DU Academic Forum Seeks DUTA Action on Safety, Staffing Issues

Delhi University: The Delhi University Academic Forum (DUAF) has written to the Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA), urging them to prioritize key institutional issues at their upcoming General Body meeting. In a letter signed by DUAF Chairperson Dr Surendra Kumar and Vice-Chairperson Dr Lata, the group highlighted several urgent matters requiring serious discussion and administrative action.

The letter requested DUTA to prepare detailed reports, pass resolutions, and push for progress on issues such as campus safety and faculty recruitment policies. This comes as part of DUAF’s efforts to address pressing concerns facing the university community.

Dr Surendra Kumar explained that DUTA is a collective of teachers whose leaders are elected every two years. When asked about the difference between DUAF and DUTA, Kumar noted that while some teacher groups contest DUTA elections, others focus on advocating for academic issues without running for office.

“DUAF does not participate in elections,” Kumar said. “Instead, we work to improve higher education by raising our concerns and organizing protests when necessary.”
