Chennai Police Deploy 16,000 for Kaanum Pongal

The Greater Chennai Police are making big security arrangements for Kaanum Pongal, which will be celebrated on January 17. Around 16,000 police officers and 1,500 Home Guards will be deployed across the city to make sure people can celebrate safely.

Chennai Police Commissioner A. Arun said that special attention will be given to areas where large crowds are expected, such as Marina Beach, Besant Nagar, and Elliot’s Beach, along with other popular public spots.

The police have planned patrols, checkpoints, and crowd control measures to prevent any accidents or incidents during the festival. They have also asked the public to follow safety rules and cooperate with the authorities for a smooth celebration.

This is part of the police’s annual safety plan, as Kaanum Pongal usually attracts thousands of people to beaches and parks in Chennai. Authorities are also ready to provide medical aid and emergency support if needed.
