Coco Gauff Advances to US Open Semifinals

Coco Gauff has reached the semifinals of the US Open for the first time since winning the Grand Slam tournament in 2023. The American star produced a strong comeback against 19-year-old Russian player Mirra Andreeva in a thrilling quarterfinal match at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Gauff had a difficult start to the match and lost the first set 2-6. Andreeva played aggressively and put Gauff under pressure from the beginning. The Russian player looked confident and appeared to be in control of the contest.

For Andreeva, the match was a major opportunity to claim her first victory over Gauff. She came very close after winning the opening set and holding match points in the second-set tiebreak. However, Gauff’s ability to remain focused during the crucial moments made the difference.

Gauff will now face Elena Rybakina in the semifinals. Rybakina booked her place in the last four after defeating China’s Qinwen Zheng earlier in the day.
