Iran-Gulf Talks in Oman in focus; as tensions continue in the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea
Diplomatic efforts are gaining attention as tensions between Iran, the United States and Gulf countries continue to affect security across the region. Iran and Gulf states are expected to hold talks in Oman on Monday to discuss security concerns around the Strait of Hormuz and other regional issues.

New Security Incidents Near Hormuz

The United Kingdom said a projectile hit a vessel travelling through the strait on Sunday. Details about possible damage to the ship and the condition of its crew were not immediately clear.
Iranian media also reported that an Iranian commercial vessel was hit near Qeshm Island. According to the reports, one person was killed and three others were injured.
The incidents have added to concerns among shipping companies and governments about the safety of vessels travelling through the region.
Houthi Attack Reported in Saudi Arabia
Tensions are also continuing near Saudi Arabia’s border with Yemen. Houthi rebels reportedly launched another attack involving missiles and drones against a military target.
Saudi authorities said a projectile struck the al-Tawwal governorate near the Yemen border. Two people were reportedly injured, while several buildings were damaged, including a mosque. Air-raid sirens were also activated in the Sharurah area.
The latest attack has increased concerns about the wider security situation between the Houthis and countries in the region.
Iraq Investigates Drone Attack
Iraq has also taken action following an attack involving drones. Iraqi authorities seized a platform believed to have been used to launch drones linked to an attack on a Saudi oil pipeline.
An investigation is continuing to determine who was behind the attack and how the launch platform was used. Iraq had earlier closed several border crossings with Iran as part of increased security measures, but authorities have now announced plans to reopen some of them.
Strait of Hormuz and Red Sea Remain Key Concerns
The latest developments have increased fears that the wider conflict could put further pressure on important international shipping routes. Along with the Strait of Hormuz, the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait near the Red Sea is another major route for global trade.
