Disney+ Adds Channel 4 Shows in U.K. and Ireland

The Walt Disney Company has signed an important agreement with Channel 4, one of the major television broadcasters in the United Kingdom. Under this agreement, Channel 4’s main television channel and its on-demand content will become available on Disney+ in the UK and Ireland from early 2027. This partnership will allow viewers to watch a wider range of British television programmes through the popular streaming platform.

The deal is an important step for Disney+ as it continues to expand its content library across Europe. By bringing Channel 4’s programmes to its platform, Disney+ aims to offer viewers more choices, including dramas, comedy shows and reality television programmes. The agreement will also help Channel 4 reach a larger audience through Disney+.

As part of the partnership, selected Channel 4 shows will be added to Disney+ every year. These programmes will also be released on Channel 4, allowing viewers to watch them through both platforms. Some of the shows included in the deal are Maya, a drama series starring Bella Ramsey; Stepping Up, a comedy featuring Denise Welch; and the reality television programme Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.

This partnership is part of Disney+’s wider plan to work with leading broadcasters across Europe. The company has already entered into similar agreements with several television networks in different countries. These include ITV in the United Kingdom, RAI in Italy, ARD and ZDF in Germany, SIC in Portugal, and RTVE and Atresmedia in Spain.

By working with these broadcasters, Disney+ is strengthening its collection of local and international programmes. Such partnerships help streaming services attract more viewers by offering content that reflects different countries, cultures and audience interests.

The agreement with Channel 4 is expected to provide viewers in the UK and Ireland with more convenient access to British television content. It also highlights the growing cooperation between traditional television broadcasters and online streaming platforms as both work to reach wider audiences in an increasingly competitive entertainment market.
