Boosting Urban Infrastructure: Minister K.N. Nehru Initiates Sewer Projects

Municipal Administration Minister K.N. Nehru kickstarted projects totaling ₹1,675 crore aimed at establishing an underground sewer network across various merged and core areas in Chennai. These initiatives will encompass regions like Manali, Madhavaram, Royapuram, and Sholinganallur. Notably, a significant portion of the funds will be allocated to wards 15 and 16, facilitating 4,000 sewer connections and sewage treatment for 5.61 million liters per day.

Additionally, Madhavaram will witness the installation of a sewer network covering nearly 100 km, benefiting around 1.18 lakh residents. Mr. Nehru emphasized that ongoing and upcoming sewer infrastructure works, along with robust water supply measures, aim to ensure seamless services for Chennai’s residents.
