Revolutionizing Policing: Chennai City’s Mobile Command and Control Centre Initiative

The Greater Chennai City Police has embarked on a mission to modernize surveillance and monitoring efforts in the city with the introduction of Mobile Command and Control Centre (MCCC) vehicles equipped with state-of-the-art technology. Part of the Mega City Policing project, aimed at modernizing the State Police Force, these vehicles come at a cost of ₹93.50 crore. They are set to revolutionize policing by integrating 3,090 AI-powered CCTV cameras installed at 1,030 locations with the existing Integrated Command and Control Centre.

Additionally, the deployment of 753 vehicle tracking devices and seven aerial tracking drones further enhances the city’s surveillance capabilities. The launch of four MCCC vehicles marks the first phase of the project, facilitating real-time monitoring and surveillance across planned and unplanned locations. Equipped with drones, CCTV cameras, and a Public Addressable System, these vehicles ensure enhanced situational awareness and effective enforcement of law and order during public gatherings and protests.

The integration of live streaming capabilities with the command and control system enables swift response to incidents, ensuring the safety and security of Chennai’s residents.
