Crackdown on Liquor and Drug Smuggling Ahead of Andhra Pradesh Elections

In an effort to curb the smuggling of Non-Duty Paid Liquor (NDPL) and the manufacturing of Illicitly Distilled (ID) liquor ahead of the elections in Andhra Pradesh, the Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) and the police have arrested a total of 72,427 persons. The crackdown also led to the binding over of 39,232 individuals and the invocation of the PD Act against 343 habitual offenders.

SEB Commissioner M. Ravi Prakash reported that liquor and drugs worth approximately ₹118.93 crore had been seized in joint operations. With 68,312 cases registered against ID liquor manufacturers and sellers, and 66,846 persons arrested, the authorities are actively working to maintain law and order in the state.
