Final Stage of Rescue Operation in Chennai Construction Site Cave-in

The rescue operation for the two individuals trapped in the construction site cave-in near Velachery, Chennai, has entered its last stage. R. Jayaseelan and S. Naresh went missing during the cave-in on Monday, triggered by heavy rains. The operation, involving pumping out water from the pit and identifying the location of the submerged container, is facing challenges due to slush.

The container, believed to be 40 feet deep, holds Jayaseelan, making retrieval complex. The presence of a pregnant woman, Jayaseelan’s wife, adds emotional tension to the situation. Despite obstacles, the collaborative efforts of NLC, Chennai Metrorail, and L&T officials continue in coordination with the rescue team. Delays have occurred due to pump malfunctions, with plans to introduce a sniffer dog in the morning to aid the search.
