Honourable Speaker of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly J. C. D Prabhakar inaugurates CME programme at MGM Healthcare
Honourable Speaker of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly J. C. D Prabhakar inaugurated the Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme on neuro rehabilitation organised by MGM Healthcare today and released a handbook titled, ‘Restoring Function, Renewing Hope’.
Dr. V. R. Roopeshkumar, Director of Neurosurgery, Dr. A. J. Rajendran, Clinical Lead, Rehabilitation Medicine, and Dr. M. P. Kaviyarasan, Consultant Neurosurgeon, MGM Healthcare made significant contributions to the book highlighting the importance of neuro rehabilitation.
More than 150 neuro rehabilitation professionals, including physiatrists, neurologists, neurosurgeons, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and clinical psychologists, participated in the one-day programme.
The primary focus of the programme was restoring function, neuro rehabilitation, and recent advancements in neuro rehabilitation, and it comprised expert talks on topics including stroke lower limb rehabilitation, neuro rehabilitation in the ICU, optimising pulmonary mechanics, stroke hand recovery, recent OT interventions, orthotics and prosthetics, brain-computer interface, and advanced therapies in neuro rehabilitation, among others. The programme featured over 26 speakers.
Speaking about the CME programme, Dr. V. R. Roopeshkumar said, “The CME programme is an essential academic initiative that brings together experts and healthcare professionals to share knowledge, experiences, and evolving best practices in the field of neurological rehabilitation. Neuro rehabilitation is a journey that requires patience, precision, compassion, and a strong multidisciplinary approach. This programme provides an excellent opportunity to enhance clinical knowledge, understand emerging rehabilitation strategies, and strengthen collaboration across specialties. By continuously learning and adapting to advances in medicine and rehabilitation, we can empower our patients to regain greater independence, dignity, and quality of life.”
