IIT-Madras Start-up Develops India’s First Secure IoT Microprocessor

The Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT-Madras), celebrated the successful design, manufacturing, and boot-up of India’s first commercial high-performance RISC-V based System on Chip (SoC) named ‘Secure IoT’, developed by Mindgrove, an IIT-Madras incubated start-up. This achievement marks a significant milestone for both the institute and the start-up Mindgrove.

Funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS) scheme, Mindgrove’s development aligns with India’s goal of self-reliance. ‘Secure IoT’ will enable Indian OEMs to incorporate an Indian SoC in their products, reducing costs without compromising on high-end features. The success of this project underscores the growing innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem at IIT-Madras.
