RCB Qualify, DC Keep Playoff Hopes Alive
In yesterday’s IPL 2026 matches, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Delhi Capitals (DC) both recorded important victories that have made the playoff race even more exciting.
RCB secured their place in the playoffs with a strong 23-run win over Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Dharamsala. Batting first, RCB put up a huge total of 222/4 in 20 overs. Virat Kohli once again played a crucial role, scoring 58 runs and giving his team a solid start. Devdutt Padikkal and Venkatesh Iyer added valuable runs with aggressive batting, helping RCB reach an imposing score.
In response, PBKS tried to keep up with the required run rate but struggled against RCB’s bowling attack. Despite some efforts from their batters, they could only manage 199/8 in their 20 overs. RCB’s bowlers maintained pressure during key moments, ensuring their team’s comfortable victory. Venkatesh Iyer was named Player of the Match for his excellent all-round performance.
In the second match, Delhi Capitals kept their playoff hopes alive with an impressive five-wicket victory over Rajasthan Royals in Delhi. Rajasthan Royals batted first and posted a competitive total of 193/8. Young batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and captain Riyan Parag played important innings to help RR set a challenging target.
However, Delhi Capitals’ chase was well-controlled from the beginning. Openers Abishek Porel and KL Rahul gave DC a strong foundation with a solid partnership. Their steady and attacking approach helped Delhi stay ahead throughout the chase, and they eventually reached the target comfortably with five wickets remaining.
Although Rajasthan lost the match, Mitchell Starc’s bowling efforts earned him recognition for his performance.
These results have made the IPL 2026 points table even tighter, with several teams still battling for the remaining playoff spots. As the tournament enters its final stage, every match is becoming crucial, adding more excitement for cricket fans.
