Jaishankar Highlights India’s Global Partnership Vision
External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar highlighted India’s growing importance in global politics during his recent visit to Suriname. Speaking at an event themed “Partnership for Progress” in Paramaribo, the capital of Suriname, he explained how India is strengthening its role worldwide through development partnerships, skilled workforce contributions, emergency support, and new international initiatives.
Dr. Jaishankar emphasized that India has become a trusted global partner by balancing its own national interests with the broader goal of global welfare. He said India’s approach focuses on cooperation, mutual growth, and supporting partner nations in their development journeys.
During his address, the minister pointed out that India’s contributions extend beyond diplomacy. He highlighted India’s role as a major provider of skilled professionals to the global workforce, its reputation as a reliable first responder during crises, and its commitment to supporting countries through economic and developmental partnerships.
He also expressed India’s strong commitment to supporting Suriname’s future growth. Dr. Jaishankar said India is ready to work closely with Suriname in various sectors and build a stronger bilateral relationship that can help shape a new chapter in both nations’ partnership.
Earlier during his visit, Dr. Jaishankar held important discussions with Suriname’s Foreign Minister Melvin Bouva. Their talks focused on strengthening cooperation, expanding bilateral ties, and exploring new opportunities for collaboration.
Dr. Jaishankar’s visit to Suriname is part of his broader three-nation Caribbean tour, which includes Jamaica, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago. The official trip, taking place from May 2 to May 10, aims to deepen India’s engagement with Caribbean nations and reinforce partnerships across the region.
This visit reflects India’s continued efforts to expand its diplomatic presence, strengthen international alliances, and promote shared progress with countries around the world.
