Karnataka Police Solve Three-Year-Old Murder Case of College-Going Woman

In a significant breakthrough, the Karnataka Police have solved the murder case of a college-going woman who went missing three years ago. Officials in Belagavi district announced the arrest of the victim’s husband, two brothers, and their associates. Shockingly, the investigation revealed that the victim’s husband, who had filed a missing person complaint and portrayed himself as an innocent party, was the prime suspect in the case.

The arrested individuals were identified as Vittal Laxmana Bangi (the victim’s husband), her brothers Lakkappa Kambali and Siddagonda Kambali, Basavaraj Kabbure, and Ashok Mokashi (associates of the main accused). The victim, Shivaleela Vittala Bangi, aged 32, was murdered in January 2020. She was a college student at Rayabagh, but her husband and brothers suspected her character.

The accused allegedly strangled her and then transported her body to a forest near Hirebudanuru village in Savadatti taluk. They subsequently returned to their normal activities. The case came to light after rumors spread about the family’s involvement in her disappearance. When police questioned family members and found inconsistencies in their statements, accused brother Lakkappa Kambali confessed to the crime. A skull found at the forest site where the body was dumped was sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for identification.
