NS Raja Subramani Named Next CDS
Lieutenant General NS Raja Subramani (Retd) has been appointed as India’s next Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), one of the country’s highest military positions.
He will also serve as the Secretary of the Department of Military Affairs from the date he officially takes charge.
Lt Gen Subramani will succeed Anil Chauhan, whose tenure as CDS is scheduled to end on May 30 this year.
Currently, Lt Gen Subramani is serving as the military adviser in the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS).
Before this role, he retired from active Army service on July 31 last year after serving as the Vice Chief of the Army Staff (VCOAS), one of the senior-most leadership positions in the Indian Army.
During his distinguished 39-year military career, Lt Gen Subramani held several major leadership roles and played an important part in India’s defence establishment.
One of his key assignments was serving as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) of the Central Command, a highly significant strategic command in the Indian Army.
His long service has been marked by operational leadership, strategic planning, and administrative excellence.
