UN Chief Stresses Need for Multipolar World Order
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has stressed the importance of supporting a multipolar world, saying that global problems cannot be solved by just one powerful country.
Speaking about the recently signed Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and the European Union, Guterres said such partnerships show how countries can work together and share responsibilities in today’s world.
He explained that cooperation between different nations is necessary to maintain peace and stability. According to him, relying on only one global power is not enough to deal with modern challenges like conflicts, climate change, economic crises and inequality.
Guterres said the world needs a balanced system where many countries play important roles. He called this a “multipolar” world order, where power and responsibility are shared among several nations.
He also pointed out that global institutions and organisations must change with the times. He said international structures should reflect today’s realities and opportunities, so they can better serve all countries.
The UN chief added that stronger partnerships, trade agreements and cooperation between nations can help create a more stable and peaceful future.
