IPL 2026: LSG Struggles Continue in Fifth Straight Loss
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) faced another tough defeat in Indian Premier League 2026. They lost a very close match to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in a Super Over at Ekana Cricket Stadium. This loss was especially disappointing as it was their eighth straight defeat at their home ground.
With this result, LSG now has one of the worst home records in IPL history. They are tied with Deccan Chargers for the second-most consecutive home losses. The record is still held by Delhi Capitals, who lost nine matches in a row at home between 2013 and 2015. This was also LSG’s fifth straight loss overall this season, matching their worst run as a team. Right now, they are at the bottom of the points table, with only two wins from eight matches.
The match itself was very close and exciting. LSG came close to winning, but the game went into a Super Over where they could not perform well. Captain Rishabh Pant tried to guide his team to victory but fell short in the end. Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram struggled to build a strong partnership during the chase. In the Super Over, Sunil Narine made an early impact by dismissing Pooran on the very first ball.
For KKR, Rinku Singh delivered an outstanding performance. He scored 83 runs and also took four catches in the field, earning the Player of the Match award. His efforts played a big role in KKR’s victory.
LSG has often found it difficult to chase targets. In their IPL history, they have lost 18 out of 30 matches while chasing. They perform better when they bat first, winning more than half of those games, compared to a lower success rate while chasing.
KKR, powered by Rinku Singh’s performance, managed to put up a competitive total of 155 runs. Interestingly, LSG bowler Mohsin Khan took five wickets in the match, but his effort was not enough to secure a win for his team.
This was also the second time Rinku Singh has taken four catches in a single IPL match for KKR, making him one of only a few players to achieve this. His all-round performance with both bat and field made this match a memorable one for KKR.
