Abdullah Shafique Breaks Record as Pakistan Levels Test Series Against West Indies

In a historic cricket match in Trinidad, Abdullah Shafique became the star of the show by scoring an unbeaten 160 runs. His impressive performance helped Pakistan level the two-match Test series against the West Indies after they lost the first game by 90 runs. This was Pakistan’s first away win since July 2023, ending their longest losing streak in away Tests, which lasted eight matches.

Shafique’s score of 160 made him only the fifth Pakistani player to hit 150 or more runs in a Test match on West Indies soil. The last time a Pakistani achieved this was in 1977 when Majid Khan scored 167. Before that, Hanif Mohammad and Wazir Mohammad had done it back in 1958.

Thanks to Shafique’s strong performance, Pakistan reached 387 all out in their first innings, setting a target of 43 runs more than the West Indies’ score of 344. Babar Azam scored 88 runs and Azan Awais added 55 to support him.

In the second innings, Pakistan’s bowlers, led by Ali Usman and Sajid Khan, took eight wickets together to bowl out the West Indies for just 117 runs in 46.1 overs. Kavem Hodge was the top scorer for the home team with 34 runs.

Chasing 75 runs to win, Pakistan achieved their target quickly in 23.3 overs after lunch on Day 4, securing an eight-wicket victory and finishing the series with pride. This was Pakistan’s fifth draw in a Test series against the West Indies.
