Jos Buttler Tops T20 Run List

England’s Jos Buttler has beaten West Indies star Kieron Pollard to become the top run-scorer in T20 history. During a match for Manchester Super Giants against Welsh Fire in The Hundred, Buttler hit an explosive 51 not out in just 20 balls, including six sixes and two fours at an incredible strike rate of 250%.

With 14,833 runs in 522 T20 matches, Buttler now leads Pollard (14,803 runs) and former leader Chris Gayle (14,562 runs). Other top scorers include England’s Alex Hales (14,449) and Australia’s David Warner (14,284). Most of Buttler’s runs have come from franchise leagues.

In international T20Is for England, he has scored 4,212 runs in 160 matches, plus 1,192 runs in The Hundred. In the Indian Premier League (IPL), playing for Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, and Gujarat Titans, he accumulated 4,646 runs with seven centuries and 28 half-centuries.

In the recent match, Welsh Fire chose to bat first and scored 155/4 thanks to Matt Short’s 71 and Phil Salt’s 48. MSG responded strongly, with Tim Seifert (62 not out), Paul Walter (37), and Buttler (51) chasing down the target with nine wickets in hand.

Buttler has been in fine form this season, scoring four half-centuries in six matches. He is currently second-highest scorer in The Hundred with 227 runs, tying the record for most fifties in a single edition of the tournament. Previously, only Dawid Malan and James Vince had achieved this feat.
