Lionel Messi has shared a glimpse of the special jersey he will wear in his last game for Argentina. The 39-year-old posted an Instagram video showing the unique Adidas-designed shirt ahead of the friendly match against Benin on October 6 in Buenos Aires.

The shirt is different from the usual blue and white design. It features light blue with one white stripe down the middle, gold letters spelling “MESSI” and his number “10” on the back. The sun of May, Argentina’s national symbol, is also prominently displayed. Gold trim adds detail to the collar and sleeves, while the AFA crest is also in gold.

This shirt is meant for one night only, not a replica of the World Cup jersey he wore in 2026. Every detail highlights that this is his final Argentina jersey. Messi announced his international retirement earlier this year after a tough period following his father’s death and Argentina’s loss in the World Cup final.

Argentina’s football association invited him back for one last game as a proper farewell. He will not play in earlier friendlies but will take the field against Benin, making it his 208th cap. AFA president Claudio Tapia called this match “the last tango of the best player in the world.”

Other players like Rodrigo De Paul and Giovani Lo Celso are also part of the team, with Angel Di Maria planning to attend. The game will take place at River Plate’s stadium, which holds about 85,000 fans.
