Karnataka man murdered in Sharjah, body cut into 9 pieces; wife, son untraceable

A man from Karnataka’s Udupi district was allegedly murdered in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, with his body reportedly found cut into nine pieces and packed inside two bags in a car. The case came to light after the man’s family raised concerns about his disappearance.

The victim has been identified as Alwin Prakash Kunder, a native of Kundapur in Udupi district. He had been working at Sharjah airport for around 14 years. According to his brother, Alwin had returned to Sharjah after visiting his hometown in December last year.

The mystery began when Alwin stopped responding to calls. His brother, Anil Prashanth Kunder, said he tried to contact him on July 20 but received no answer. Instead, a text message was sent from Alwin’s phone saying that he was fine. His brother reportedly found the message unusual because Alwin normally did not communicate with him in that way.

When Alwin remained unreachable, his brother contacted people in Sharjah and asked them to check on him. According to the family, they were initially told that Alwin had returned to India. However, passport-related information reportedly showed that he was still in Sharjah. A missing-person complaint was subsequently filed.

During the investigation, Alwin’s body was reportedly found inside a car parked along a road leading towards Oman. His brother said the body had been dismembered into nine pieces and placed inside two bags. Reports also say DNA testing was used to establish the identity of the remains.

Alwin’s wife, Tina Kunder, is originally from Udyavara in Udupi and works as a schoolteacher in Sharjah. Their son is reportedly studying in Class 10. The whereabouts of both have not been officially established, although several reports have described them as missing.

The family has also referred to CCTV footage that allegedly showed two men and a woman leaving the building where Alwin lived. However, the identities of these people and their connection to the case have not been established publicly. There is also no confirmed evidence at this stage linking Alwin’s wife or son to the alleged killing.

The motive behind the alleged murder remains unclear. Sharjah authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding Alwin’s death and are expected to determine who was responsible and why the killing took place.

Alwin’s brother has approached the Udupi Superintendent of Police and submitted a representation seeking action and assistance in the case. Karnataka authorities are reportedly awaiting further official communication from the UAE authorities.

The case remains under investigation, and several important questions, including the circumstances of the murder, the identities of those involved and the whereabouts of Alwin’s wife and son, are yet to be officially clarified.
